DNS-exploiting Malware typically is designed to remain undetected on servers and on personal devices over a long time period. Based on commands received from the master controller via ‘backdoor’ malware, infected devices will either capture data (via spyware malware) or execute actions – such as send SPAM emails or participate in a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack. As this type of malware is very sophisticated and is designed to persist over time, a commonly-used description for this category is “Advanced Persistent Threat” or “APT Malware”
